HISTORY: I learned giving from my grandparents. In olden days my grandpa and his brother would drop things at people's houses if they came to know a particular family was in need. My grandfather was a freedom fighter and a staunch follower of Gandhi. During India's partition in 1947, he lost his business, home, and belongings. Like so many others, he re-built his life and again started helping others. My grandparents lived a very simple life. They had a handful of clothes that would be washed and ironed frequently. They had no cars, scooters, or any Real Estate. There was no fancy furniture in the rented flat. They were involved with some of the following charitable activities:

Helping orphan children. Every so often, the women in the house would cook food and sweets for the orphans. Then we all would go across the river to an orphanage. There we would unload the food and serve each and every child with fresh homemade meal.

Support a free clinic for the poor and unfortunate. This clinic had a physician on duty and would serve men, women, and children with free consultation and medications.

Give scholarships to children whose parents could not afford tuition and books. Give monthly financial assistance to needy families with children.

My grandparents passed away a long time ago. Childa Charitable Foundation was created to carry their legacy.
